LMFT
On my journey to becoming a therapist, I was fortunate to have an inspirational mentor, Professor Fox. He instilled in me the importance of being open-minded and curious, to seek understanding in life, relationships, and the shared humanity that connects us all. I firmly believe that every person’s experience is unique, even if we come from similar backgrounds or families. Despite our differences, we are all human at our core.
Personally, it took me years to navigate my own experiences as an Arab-American. I had to break free from old family patterns, learn to assert myself and speak my truth as an act of self-love and respect, and discover how to effectively communicate my emotions in a way that others could truly hear me. Joining the TriHealing family is a natural fit for me, as our mission aligns with my own advocacy to reduce and re-educate the stigma surrounding mental health, particularly within the BIPOC community. Together, we can reclaim our power.
As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with over 10 years of experience, I have had the privilege of serving my community. My work has focused on supporting underserved and underprivileged families in Santa Clara County through various non-profit organizations. I have worked with individuals, couples, and families dealing with intellectual disabilities, autism, chronic depression, severe anxiety, and various forms of trauma, including physical, emotional, sexual, and mental traumas.
The pandemic has left many of us feeling confused, angry, and anxious, as we grapple with processing the profound changes happening around us. Balancing work and life, self-esteem and purpose, socialization and isolation, family and relationship issues, transitions and adjustments, and loss and grief are just a few of the challenges we may face. I believe that how we handle stress and conflict today is influenced by our past relationships and experiences. Generational patterns and cultural factors shape our movements, speech, behavior, and responses in the world.
In therapy, I take an integrative approach. We will explore your past together, identifying patterns that we may want to change. I value the importance of challenging you in the therapy room while creating a space where you feel empowered, safe, and vulnerable. Building trust and safety takes time, effort, and authenticity, and I am committed to being patient and flowing at your pace. Therapy doesn’t have to be rigid; I believe that humor and laughter are essential and healing. In addition to being an LMFT, I have also been a fitness coach and teach HIIT classes for over 8 years. I believe that moving our bodies and breaking a sweat can help alleviate stress and improve overall well-being. We can even incorporate outdoor activities like hiking, boxing, longboarding, and of course, I have a soft spot for dogs—I love them!
