LMFT, BBS Supervisor

Limited Proficiency: Vietnamese

I am a Licensed Clinical Therapist, a first-generation individual from an immigrant family, an obsessive plant mom, and the Founder of TriHealing. I am proud and overjoyed to introduce you to our intimate community of BIPOC therapists who are deeply committed to helping people. TriHealing was born out of my passion for serving the BIPOC community and individuals who are seeking personal growth. I firmly believe that talk therapy alone is not the sole solution to everything. Our physical health is just as crucial in the healing process, and I emphasize the importance of addressing both aspects in our work together. I am dedicated to creating a safe and inclusive space where individuals from diverse backgrounds can thrive and find the support they need.

Growing up in a traditional Vietnamese household, my parents instilled in me the importance of cultural rituals, loyalty to family, and holding strong values both inside and outside the home. However, like many first-generation kids, I also experienced struggles with cultural and generational differences, the over-critical parent(s), the “never good enough” mentality, and a sense of emotional distance within myself and at times, within my relationship with my family.

Through my own journey, I learned to challenge cultural norms, embracing my biculturalism and making decisions on how I wanted to experience the world as an independent Vietnamese-American woman. I patiently (and sometimes impatiently) learned ways to communicate with my family, address my needs, and share my emotions in a way that ultimately improved our approach and relationship with one another. This resulted in me feeling safe and supported. The journey was not easy, but I was ready and willing to do the work to live a more balanced life, free from attachment to suffering. In our work together, I hope to support you in finding your inner peace as well.

My approach to therapy is not passive. I will frequently challenge you to step outside your comfort zone, identify self-sabotaging patterns, and reflect on unhealthy energies surrounding you. Importantly, there is no “one-size-fits-all” in therapy. My role is to collaborate with you to design a supportive, individualized, and creative space for you to explore—a safe space where you can be your true self and share it with the world when you are ready. Together, we can embark on a journey of healing and personal growth.

“A change is brought about because ordinary people do extraordinary things.” – Barack Obama

In my professional experience, which dates back to 2009, I have worked across various settings, specializing in high-acuity trauma, domestic violence, victims of trafficking, sexual/emotional/physical abuse, substance abuse/dependency, severe depression, anxiety, and system-impacted families in foster care, adoption, and probation. As a woman of color in a leadership position, I strive to inspire and empower my fellow women to step out of their comfort zones, recognize their limits and potentials, and become strong and effective leaders in our communities.

During my free time, I indulge in my passion for travel & exploring unfamiliar territories, immersing myself in nature, and discovering new restaurants and food. I also have a knack for capturing moments through photography, resulting in an unhealthy collection (hoarding) of cherished memories.

Currently, I provide a hybrid of in-person and virtual therapy sessions. I travel between San Jose and Chicago, and when I am in San Jose, we can meet in person. Otherwise, our sessions will be conducted through Telehealth. If you prefer only in-person sessions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me, and I can help connect you to therapists whom I adore and trust.
