Kevin is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 28 years of experience working with high risk children, teens and adults struggling to meet basic needs and manage their mental health challenges. Kevin has a Bachelor of Arts in Child Development and a Masters of social Work with an emphasis on Community Mental health.
A Bay Area native, Kevin has predominantly worked in community based settings providing mental health support to marginalized youth and families impacted by trauma. Kevin has also facilitated self-help groups for children and families impacted by substance dependency. In addition, he also has experience supporting clients with depression, anxiety, grief loss, transitions, self-injurious behaviors, substance abuse, work stress, family and relationship issues and much more. Kevin embraces the strength based philosophy embodied by the wraparound practice model that focuses on valuing the client’s voice as the expert of their life. Kevin’s past clients have been his greatest teachers about the power and resilience of humans facing life’s character building challenges. Kevin is committed to helping his clients to develop and trust their inherent capacities for healing through self-discovery, acceptance & compassion.
While Kevin identifies as a therapist and wellness practitioner, he also identifies as a child of a working class, dual parent, southern born African American Family. He is a two time cancer survivor, husband, comedian, Christian, father, man of color and dedicated community servant. Kevin is committed to reducing the stigma around mental health in communities of color and focusing on men’s health issues. Kevin is also very motivated to add to the limited number of qualified male therapists to support men and men of color.
